After heavy thought, I was able to put together my top 10 songs to take on the road, whether I’m heading fifty miles or five-hundred. Let me know what you think about the variety below. What’s your favorite?
P.S. No specific order!
Cat Stevens – Wild World
Classic tune. I love Cat Stevens’ voice and timeless songs. I was first attracted to his music after hearing the song, Peace Train.
Bob Dylan – Like a rolling stone
What a cliche song to choose, but…IT”S A GREAT SONG, and Bob Dylan is one of the most unique vocalists in the world.
The Mamas & The Papas – California Dreamin’
I started this list off with a few classic songs, and California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & The Papas is no exception. It’s a nostalgic tune with an eerie feel.
Tourist – Placid Acid
Found out about this song on pitchfork.com. Try to listen only once!
M83 – Kim & Jessie
I was lucky enough to catch M83 in Detroit in May. Their live performance won me over. Kim & Jessie was my favorite song performed live by the French group.
Local Natives – Who Knows Who Cares
I’ve been listening to Local Natives for a while now, the track above shows how talented the group is, as songwriters and musicians.
The National – Fake Empire
I love this song. It’s simple, beautiful and it’s perfect for driving at night.
Third Eye Blind – Motorcyle Driveby
Is it lame to say you love Third Eye Blind? Naomi thinks so, but not me, they’re legends. LEGENDS. Ha, maybe not, but this song is written brilliantly.
Wilco – Jesus, etc.
Another great tune. It was hard for me to choose just one Wilco song. Great lyrics and awesome melodies.
Das Racist – Rainbow in the dark
A strange song, to say the least. But it’s fun and quirky. Check it.
I hope you enjoyed my list! Let me know your favorite tunes to cruise to.
