When I first moved into my own apartment, I went a little crazy at Home Goods. A by a little crazy, I mean I bought all of the tacky, sparkly decorations I could find. And although I don’t think any home is complete without a few tacky Halloween decorations, I wanted to create a more natural looking, fall-inspired arrangement to put on my shelf/mantel that hangs above my TV.

I picked up these faux-squash/pumpkin/pears from Michaels for $2! I love the price and that they look real thing without the rotting and browning issue. I also grabbed these white berry branches because they contrast with the dark oranges and greens of the squashes.

I picked off the styrofoam berries and hot glued them on. I was going to spell “Happy Fall!” but that’s a lot of squashes so I opted for “Welcome”, a nice message that I can keep on the mantel until after Christmas. Happy crafting, kids!

If I were brave enough to use real squashes and pumpkins, it would be great to stick cloves in them to spell out the message because your living room would smell delicious. I hope this inspires you to get creative with the colors and textures of fall, they’re unlike any other.
